One of the standout features compared to the old G&G CM16 Combat Machine is the true quick spring change design. Unlike before, we didn't have to remove the entire gearbox to replace the spring, which made high to low, low to high spring change much easier. Another notable improvement is its compatibility with Gate Titan and Aster MOSFETs, a significant advantage for those who enjoy high-performance builds. Additionally, the inclusion of 8mm steel bushings instead of the old brass ones is a welcome upgrade.

The new CM16 Batto also comes standard with dual-profile fiber optic front and rear sights, which is a great enhancement over the older triangle fixed sight. It still houses the reliable reinforced G&G gearbox but now quick spring change feature and with steel bushings, a heat-treated gearset, and a polycarbonate piston, similar to the older CM16 Raider. The same 18,000 rpm motor is used, which is more than adequate for most players.

We appreciated the ambidextrous magazine release and the functioning bolt catch, which added convenience when adjusting the rotary hop-up that comes with the gun. The low-profile retractable stock is well-designed and accommodates standard stick LiPo batteries or nunchuck-style LiPo batteries (the blade type) comfortably.

When thinking about buying an airsoft gun for the first time, first thing that comes to mind is the price, then the quality, then the features. Although we only had a short time with the production prototype, shooting and testing its new features, we believe the G&G CM16 Batto airsoft gun will set a new standard for beginner to intermediate players. Its versatile features might even appeal to advanced players looking for a reliable and customizable airsoft gun.

When it comes to performance, the LT-15 Gen 2 really shines. The upgraded internals are apparent in its consistent and reliable shooting. With a muzzle velocity averaging around 370-400 FPS with 0.20g BBs, with the capability to change to a lower FPS spring. It strikes a great balance for both indoor and outdoor play. The trigger response is not bad.

The hop-up unit is easy to adjust and holds its position well. After a bit of tweaking, I was able to get a nice, flat trajectory for my shots, extending my effective range. The high-capacity magazine holds plenty of ammo, so I wasn’t constantly reloading during intense skirmishes, which is a huge plus. 

One of my favorite aspects of the LT-15 Gen 2 is its versatility. The quad picatinny rail system allows for a plethora of attachments. I quickly outfitted mine with a foregrip and a red dot sight, transforming it into a personalized tool tailored to my play style. The retractable stock also offers comfortable adjustments, ensuring a good fit regardless of whether I’m in a close-quarters battle or needing more stability for long-range engagements. 

Battery storage in the crane stock is ample, and swapping out batteries is straightforward. I appreciate that Lancer Tactical included a battery and charger, making this a great starter package for newcomers to airsoft. 

However, it’s not without its minor downsides. The polymer body, while durable, doesn’t have the same premium feel as full-metal counterparts. Additionally, the stock motor could benefit from a bit more torque, but this is a relatively easy upgrade if needed. 

Overall, the Lancer Tactical LT-15 Gen 2 offers exceptional value. It’s reliable, customizable, and performs admirably in the field. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just getting into the sport, this rifle is a solid choice that won’t break the bank. I’m thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and look forward to many more games with it by my side.

1. Compatibility

Ensure the airsoft tracer unit is compatible with your airsoft rifle’s barrel threading. The most common thread is 14mm CCW (counter-clockwise). However a few airsoft rifles uses 14mm CW (clockwise).

Also a lot of airsoft pistols does not come with threaded outer barrels, therefore you may have to purchase an aftermarket threaded pistol outer barrel. Under airsoft pistol category, airsoft pistol outer barrel may come with no threads, a 14mm CCW thread, or 12mm internally threaded (this means that you have to purchase a 12mm - 14mm pistol thread adapter to make it work).

2. Brightness and Performance

The tracer unit should provide enough UV light to brightly illuminate green tracer BBs. Units with powerful UV LEDs will charge the BBs more effectively, resulting in a brighter glow.

As a side note, red tracer BBs needs to be charged with a different UV wavelength. So if you plan to use red tracer BBs, make sure that your airsoft tracer unit is red tracer BB compatible. Look for reviews or manufacturer specifications on performance and brightness.

3. Battery Life and Rechargeability

Consider the power source for the tracer unit. Many use rechargeable batteries, so look for a unit with a long battery life and easy rechargeability (e.g., via USB). This ensures you don't run out of power during a game.

4. Durability and Build Quality

Tracer units can take a beating during airsoft games. Choose a unit with a durable construction, typically made from metal or high-quality polymers. This ensures it can withstand the rigors of gameplay.

5. Compactness and Weight

A compact tracer unit is less likely to interfere with your airsoft gun's handling and maneuverability. Look for units that are lightweight and have a streamlined design.

6. Flash Detection Technology

Some tracer units use sensors to detect muzzle flash, activating the UV LEDs only when the gun is fired. This can help save battery life and reduce unwanted light emissions.

Airsoft tracer units typically use ultraviolet (UV) light to activate tracer BBs, which are coated with a phosphorescent material. This coating absorbs UV light and emits a visible glow.

The tracer unit contains UV LEDs that activate when the airsoft gun is fired. As the tracer BB passes through the tracer unit, it triggers a sensor that flashes a UV light, charging the airsoft tracer BB’s phosphorescent coating. This process occurs quickly, typically in the split second when the BB is in the unit.

After being charged, the airsoft tracer BBs glow as they travel through the air. This glowing effect is especially visible in low-light or nighttime conditions, providing a visual representation of the BB's trajectory.

Tracer units are usually attached to the muzzle or as a mock suppressor on airsoft guns. Some are integrated into the gun itself, while others are add-ons that can be screwed onto the barrel.

Some airsoft tracer units uses AAA batteries but most new ones have USB rechargeable built-in batteries to power the UV LEDs.

Overall, tracer units enhance airsoft games by providing a realistic effect, allowing players to track the trajectory of their shots and adding a dynamic visual element to gameplay, especially during night games or in dark environments.

Need help finding the best tracer unit in the market?

We have tested a different magazines from different brands to see which one works well with the Jag Arms TTI Pit Viper and Sand Viper.

We used a brand new Matrix / Jag Airsoft Green Gas can on all magazines tested.

The airsoft bbs used were the Lancer Tactical BBs Streamline .20g BBs on all magazines to keep everything as equal as possible.

We are also using the stock magazines that came with the airosft pistols as a benchmark.

We have have established 357-363 FPS with .20g BBs as the benchmark standard for how these magazines should perform.

We have noticed that most magazines slides off smoothly when we press the mag release button but the WE Hi-Capa Magazine and EMG TTI Pit Viper Magazine sticks and needs to be pulled out to release.

Our observation is that the ICS Challenger Magazine feeds well but has the lowest FPS recorded.

1. Performance: LiPo batteries generally offer higher performance compared to NiMH batteries. They have a higher energy density, which means they can deliver more power for longer periods of time. This can result in better trigger response, faster rate of fire, and overall improved performance during gameplay.
2. Size and Weight: LiPo batteries are typically smaller and lighter than NiMH batteries with similar capacities. This can be advantageous for airsoft guns where space and weight are important considerations, allowing for easier installation and potentially better balance of the gun.
   

   

3. Voltage: LiPo batteries usually have a higher voltage than NiMH batteries of the same size, which can provide a more consistent rate of fire and better performance throughout the charge cycle.
   

   

4. Charging: NiMH batteries are generally easier and safer to charge compared to LiPo batteries. LiPo batteries require more careful charging procedures and monitoring to prevent overcharging, which can lead to safety hazards such as swelling, overheating, or even fire. Never use a NiMh charger to charge LiPo Batteries!!
5. Maintenance: NiMH batteries tend to be more forgiving in terms of maintenance and storage. LiPo batteries require more attention to proper storage conditions and regular maintenance practices to ensure longevity and safety.
6. Cost: NiMH batteries are often cheaper upfront compared to LiPo batteries. However, LiPo batteries may offer better long-term value due to their higher performance and longer lifespan when properly maintained.
   

   

7. Safety: While both types of batteries can be safe when handled correctly, LiPo batteries have a higher risk of fire if mishandled. Proper charging, storage, and usage practices are essential for minimizing these risks. (it is recommended to use a LiPo Sack when charging and storing LiPo batteries)

Ultimately, the choice between NiMH and LiPo batteries for airsoft guns depends on your priorities and preferences. If you prioritize performance and are willing to handle the additional maintenance and safety precautions, airsoft LiPo batteries may be the better option. However, if simplicity, lower risk, and cost-effectiveness are more important to you, airsoft NiMH batteries might be the preferred choice, these batteries are also what most manufacturers include on their gun packages. Always follow manufacturer recommendations and proper safety guidelines when using any type of battery for your airsoft gun.
