G&G CM16 SRXL Black Airsoft Gun

The latest addition to the ever popular G&G Combat Machine AEG line is the all new CM16 SR series. This is a brand new model of affordable line of intermediate level AEG that G&G came up with this year, with a few new internal and external improvements, this is definitely an upgrade to the original battle tested G&G Combat Machine. The CM16 SR series comes in different lengths to accommodate different airsoft game scenarios.

Here is an overview of the G&G CM16 SRXL which comes with a 12" Keymod Rail System and 14" outer barrel.

Externally, this is one of the nicest looking Combat Machine G&G has ever come up with yet. From the front, the G&G CM16 SRXL is equipped with an aggressive looking plastic orange flash suppressor that can accept an aftermarket mock silencer that will give the AEG a different look. Rail sections can be mounted onto the full metal keymod rail system at the 45, 90 and 180 degree angle. The front and rear iron sights are adjustable, these sights can also be flipped down to be used as back up or remove from the gun to provide more space for another type of sighting system such as red dot or long range scope.

The most defining feature of the G&G CM16 SRXL is the upper and lower receivers; these are made of a new type of reinforced fiberglass polymer, which feels tougher than the material of the original Combat Machine polymer receiver. The upper receiver is cut out to be flush with the rail system, giving the gun a slick look. The receivers are also milled out nicely giving the AEG a more modern, and futuristic look compare to any standard M4 AEGs. The enhanced selector switch is larger than standard selector switch. The magazine release button and the charging handle are ambidextrous for left and right handed users. The motor grip has finger groves and textures that provide more comfort than ordinary motor grips. A sling mount is located on the base of the buffer tube.

The G&G CM16 SRXL comes with the new GOS-V3 6 position crane stock which is also a battery compartment; this stock can house a large variety of nunchuck (butterfly) batteries. To access the battery compartment, simply press the button on top of the stock, and twist the butt pad. Toward the back of the stock is a QD sling mount slot, and a small back up battery compartment for flashlight or red dot sight is located right under this QD sling mount slot. The butt pad is thick and rubberized which feels very comfortable when shouldering the AEG.

Internally, the G&G CM16 SRXL AEGs utilize the Version 2 gearbox with a few new parts. The V2 gearbox is compatible with a large variety of aftermarket upgrade and repair parts. All G&G CM16 SRXL AEGs also comes with a micro switch and a programmable mosfet combo, which enhances the trigger response immensely compare to regular Combat Machines. The Mosfet unit is located inside the buffer tube; this mosfet can be programmed to change from full auto into 3-round burst fire mode.

Changing fire mode can be done on the go by simply switching the fire mode to semi, then hold the trigger for 10 seconds, and the full auto function will change to 3-round burst. To switch it back to full auto, simply repeat the steps above or unplug the battery for a few seconds to reset back to normal.

It is recommended to power this AEG using a 9.6V NiMH battery. It is also possible to use 11.1V Lipo battery for this AEG to achieve a higher rate of fire, faster trigger response and quicker burst on 3-round burst fire mode, although this will result in an increase of wear and tear.

The hop up, inner barrel assembly in the G&G CM16 SRXL consists of a 260mm aluminum inner barrel, G&G standard plastic hop up unit, and G&G green bucking. All these parts can be replaced with compatible aftermarket upgrade parts.

The G&G CM16 SRXL shoots at an average of 380-400FPS with .20g BBs. With this FPS and barrel length the G&G CM16 SRXL is an ideal AEG for outdoor games or medium to long range scenarios. This G&G CM16 SRXL comes with the airsoft gun itself and a 300 rounds magazine, the battery and charger are sold separate.

The G&G Combat Machine has been battle tested in the airsoft community and is known for being one of the most reliable entry level AEG on the market, with all the features that the original Combat Machine has combine with the new features and competitive price, the G&G CM16 SRXL is surely going to be one of the nicest intermediate level AEG on the market.

Great gun. Already played twice with it for two full day events. Performed great. I've read alot of reviews that said stock, mag, or barrel wobble. Ive put this gun through its paces, played in rain and extreme cold performed great and very durable.

    Stopped working after 4K rounds

Got the CM16 SRXL after long debate. Decided to go with the new and "improved" CM16. And still using the stock 9.6V battery that came with the gun. Now this POS is dead in the water. It's less than 90 days old, and I switched to Deans Plugs. And got the G&G mock flash suppressor and flash hider. Now I'll probley get screwed with warranty. This thing sucks I just hope G&G or Airsoftmaster makes this right.

I love the new style combat machine receiver and the keymod rail. The orange flash hider is great because i have the option to install a qd mock suppressor. but my favorite feature is the programable 3 round burst.. really awesome!

Too High of Expectations (3.5 stars)

Ill write about the cons ive experienced with this gun. Other than these flaws, the SRXL is flawless -Weak Charging Handle Spring, was sprung out after 5 pulls -Fps was 350 with .2s (I think manufacter error) -Bushings are brass :/ -Rail Scratches easily, black chips off to reveal silver color -Flashhider pain to Remove -Rail, Outer Barrel move way to much for a gun this expenisve, screws seem to come loose. Issue fixed through a zip-tie, as well as putting my sight on both the rail and the reciever. WIth all of these flaws, I would still recomend the SRXL. I think most of these is because of how awesome the external features there are, the shooting is crisp, interally the gun is sound. Still worried about the rep G&G gearboxs with cracking. I'm still pretty content with what i payed for (235 dollars)
