G&G Combat Machine CM16 Raider Short
The G&G CM16 Raider line is G&G’s best selling line of beginner AEG on the market, and it has been that way for good reasons. The CM16 Raider comes in 2 different variations: long barrel for outdoor and short barrel for indoor. As far as color goes, the CM16 also comes in black or tan. Here we will take a look at the CM16 Raider Short.
From the front of the gun, the CM16 Raider comes with a standard bird cage orange flash hider; there are aftermarket silencers that can be fitted over this style orange flash hider. The front sight is a standard M16 triangle sight that is adjustable for elevation. On the bottom of the triangle sight is a sling mount for 2 point slings. The outer barrel is made of aluminum and is 8.5 inches. Covering the outer barrel is a 7” quad rail system that provides plenty of rail spaces for accessories such as grip, flashlight, laser, or PEQ box. The rail system is made of durable polymer which also keeps the weight down.
The body is made of the same polymer material as the rail system. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation, it is also removable if another sighting system such as red dot sight or scope is preferred. The dust cover on the CM16 series can be easily pried open to access the hop up unit, otherwise the dust cover will stay close as the default position to prevent any unwanted debris from entering the hop up or the gearbox. All CM16 Raider AEG have a sling adapter on the right side, and a comfortable 6 position retractable crane stock. The battery housing is located inside the crane stock, and the space inside the stock can accommodate a 9.6V NiMH Nunchuk battery.
The gearbox is a full metal V2 gearbox that is compatible with an extensive variety of aftermarket replacement or upgrade parts. Based on the gearbox specs, it is recommended to use this rifle with a 9.6v NiMH battery or a 7.4v Lipo battery. 11.1v Lipo batteries are more powerful and can be used to power the rifle to achieve a higher rate of fire and crispier trigger response but at the cost of a higher rate of wear and tear on the rifle.
All CM16 Raider AEG comes with the same hop up and barrel set up: aluminum inner barrel, plastic hop up and cold resistance green bucking. Just like the gear box, all major components listed above can be replaced or upgraded with aftermarket parts to achieve better accuracy.
The optional combo version of the CM16 Raider S comes with the AEG itself, smart charger, 9.6V NiMH Nunchuk battery, and 450 rounds hi-cap magazine. The Feet Per Second (FPS) for the CM16 Raider S is around 330-340. The CM16 Raider series of AEG is a great beginner option for anyone who’s looking to start airsofting, and the CM16 Raider S is great for any close quarter environment due to its light weight yet durable external materials, short barrel, and reliable internal.

This was my first airsoft gun purchase and I was thoroughly nervous about spending $150 on something I had never held in person before. I read reviews for a few weeks on different options and then pulled the trigger on this. Absolutely the right choice!
First Impression As I Unpacked:
This was much heavier and better constructed than I thought it was going to be. Its a very solid build. More metal than I anticipated and the parts that aren't are still very stout.
The first few times I used it I needed to adjust the HopUp to dial it in for best performance. Super easy to do on the fly and it makes a huge difference.
5 Months Later:
This thing is a beast. It's been dumped into the mud, dropped repeatedly, etc and still fires far and straight. No trouble at all.
I should have bought the extra mag right away. I didn't think I'd need one and I could just reload when needed but when you're in the middle of the fun you don't want to stop. I did order the extra battery with mine but I haven't had to swap out during game time. We recently played again for about 6 hours and I fired almost 1800 rounds and the battery was fine.
The product came properly packaged and shipped. Batteries did need some charging which was expected. Everything was new and in excellent condition. Tested the CM16 Raider and was not disappointed. Very happy with this purchase. Just a side note, nunchuck batteries that go inside the crane stock can be a little picky. Make sure not to pinch the wires.
From every airsoft field and store I've been too, and every video I've watched, I always hear that "The CM16 Raider is the Work horse of the industry" From the internals down to the externals, it is well made, affordable, and attractive. It is a perfect starting gun, and AirsoftMasters combo deal of a charger and battery is amazing!
