G&G ARP9 / ARP556 Upgrade List

G&G ARP9 / ARP556 Upgrade List

There are many potential upgrades that can be done to the G&G ARP 9 / ARP 556 airsoft gun to enhance its performance and customize its look. Here are some popular upgrades that you may want to consider:

Accuracy Upgrade

  • Inner Barrel: Upgrading the inner barrel to a tight bore barrel can improve accuracy and range. A quality inner barrel can provide tighter groupings and better consistency. The Prometheus 128mm Precision Inner Barrel is made specifically for the ARP 9 (also works with ARP 556)
  • Hop-up Chamber: Swapping out the stock hop-up unit with a higher-quality one can improve consistency and accuracy. The Prometheus Hop-up chamber made specifically for G&G guns comes to mind.
  • Hop-up Bucking: The Prometheus Purple Bucking or Modify Ryusoku Bucking is recommended to further enhance performance.

Electronics Upgrade

MOSFET Upgrade: The ARP series already comes standard with an Electronic Trigger Unit and built in MOSFET. A MOSFET can help protect the trigger contacts from damage and provide better control over the gun's electrical system, such as implementing burst fire or other programmable functions. There are 2 options to consider.

  1. The Perun Upgrade MOSFET for G&G ETU Trigger Unit is an easy drop in replacement from the stock G&G MOSFET. It has a whole range of features like pre-cocking, faster trigger response and can handle higher voltage to name a few.
  2. The Gate Titan MOSFET rear wired is a more advanced replacement than the Perun but it requires expert technical knowledge to install. It features optical sensors to detect the trigger pull, pre-cocking, fast trigger response, trigger sensitivity, can be connected to a computer using a Gate Titan USB Link and software to do programming and detect issues.

Rate of Fire

Increasing the rate of fire requires changing the gearset from stock 18:1 ratio to a 12:1 or 13:1 gear ratio. A 13:1 gear ratio means that the motor will turn 13 times to make 1 shot. Therefore the smaller the number the faster the rate of fire. Keep in mind that when you change to a faster rate of fire (ROF), you may have to deal with other issues like finding a magazine that can feed fast enough and shimming the gears properly to prevent damage.

Ultimately, the upgrades you choose will depend on your specific needs and preferences for the G&G ARP 9. Be sure to consult with a qualified airsoft technician to ensure proper installation and compatibility with the gun's components.
